Wim sat at his desk and made his makeup before the rehearsal. He was in his costume soon, feeling the soft but strong, navy blue cloth on his skin. He watched himself in the mirror. He seemed tired, but he was happy. He adored this musical, adored this role, so everything was perfect.
Everything?
He looked at René's desk. His college hasn't arrived yet. René. He missed the tall, slim figure. He missed his laugh, his jokes, the way he usually arrived, slapping Wim in the back gently and asking "How are you?"
Wim tried to figure out why is he thinking about this now. Of course he loved René, as a friend, he loved all his colleges like brothers and sisters. They were united, they were Hugo's children now. They were Mizzies.
But René... His Valjean... Wait. What is this possession? Wim, Wim, separate yourself from your character. Valjean is not yours. Rene is not... Oh, God.
No, he couldn't separate himself and his character more. Valjean was growing on him. René... René... those eyes. Those magical eyes. He leant to hisdesk and bowed his head on his arms. Suddenly, he felt extremely tired and confused.

When he noticed him, he felt as fire flooded his body. And when he touched him... He closed his eyes.
"Hello, René. I'm ok... just a little headache. This weather..." he sighed.
Then he looked at him, to admire his beauty. He always was fond of men, but he never saw anybody as beautiful as René. And he wasn't in love for a long time. He lost his lover fifteen years ago. Since then... he had only casual affairs. But... René was with Céline. And Wim had dark secrets - he knew he would never dare to tell him... Oh, God, how he wanted to kiss him now.
He finished his makeup and slicked his hair down.

"Oh, thanks. I don't like medicins... they make me sleepy. I think it will be better when we begin."
But he held René's coat. He felt his manly, fresh scent what he adored. And he turned red as René dressed before him. He did it a hundred times, but now... Oh, God, how perfect his body was. He sighed heavily, and forced himself to remain in his chair.
And the thought that this subtext-filled play stood before them, didn't help too much. It was so evident that Javert loved Valjean, he thought. He understood it immediately when he first saw the play. And René was incredibly attractive as Valjean. That was why he could identify with his character so much...
"I'll be alright, René. Are you ready? Let's go."

So René thinks it so, too? Okay, so I'm not the only one who read Valjean/Javert slash on fanfiction sites. "Yes, they could... if Valjean understood Javert's real reasons." He sighed. "Or if Javert understood his own feelings." He bowed his head. "I think he realized on the barricade, what he really felt... and the final confrontation is so filled with subtext. Especially when Colm sings it." Oh, yes. They were TAC-addicts. But Wim thought René is way better than Colm ever was. God, René was better than any other singer in this role. He was the perfect Valjean. "We can play it out. Drew Sarich tried, but... well... he sucks."

"Well... I think our lines do half of the work." He tried to sound lightly. "Confrontation needs no extra, I think. Chase around a bed, with a nightstick..." He laughed. "God, how naughty that scene is. I don't know... did the authors mean it, or are they really that innocent?"
He looked at René who was now Valjean. In his - oh, so hot - convict outfit. "Maybe the First Attack is the turning point. I don't exactly know what to do... maybe I should press the gun against my chest when I sing "Shoot me now for all I care...", but then... we can do what our instincts say. It will come naturally."
He tried everything to sound as if these were only acting problems. But he had no such chemistry with his partner in Secret Garden, neither in Jesus Christ Superstar. No, it was only with René.
But René loved Céline. And he loves girls in general. You have no hope. Don't lie yourself - you only want a possibility to embrace him onstage...
Wim had dark thoughts. He was very thankful when, finally, he saw Nuriala's head in the door. "C'mon, boys, we'll begin in three mins!" And she vanished.
